Engagement Photos in Buffalo’s Theatre District
Michaela’s love for theater—especially Rocky Horror—played a big role in their relationship. When Alex proposed after one of her shows in front of her theater “family” and a live audience, it was the perfect blend of romance and theatrics.
For their engagement session, we chose the Buffalo Theatre District, with the iconic Shea’s Theatre as a backdrop. The digital sign added to the fun until it unexpectedly displayed “Abby, will you marry me?”—a surprise proposal for someone else! It turned into an unforgettable moment, with passersby shouting congratulations to Abby, setting the tone for the laughter and joy that carried into their wedding day.
Romantic Ceremony at The Lodge at Woodlawn Beach
Michaela and Alex tied the knot at The Lodge at Woodlawn Beach, a stunning venue in Buffalo, NY, known for its beautiful outdoor settings and delicious catering by Illio DiPaolo’s.
The ceremony began with unique touches, including a flower person and the officiant kicking things off with the memorable “Marriage” line from The Princess Bride. From a heartfelt handfasting ceremony to a standing ovation for the newlyweds during their exit, every moment was picture-perfect.

The ceremony backdrop featured the beach and boardwalk, offering breathtaking views. Michaela and Alex made time for a special photo session on the beach, where a young girl excitedly approached Michaela, calling her a princess. This sweet interaction was a highlight of the day, showcasing the kindness and joy that radiates from this couple.
Reception Highlights: A Taylor Swift-Inspired First Dance
The reception was just as magical as the ceremony, starting with a beautifully decorated entryway featuring a photo wall. Michaela and Alex shared their first dance to Taylor Swift’s “Enchanted,” a nod to Michaela’s Swiftie fandom. The choreographed dance was nothing short of spectacular.
Once the formal dances were over, the party took off, with the dance floor staying packed all night. From heartfelt toasts to guests of all ages celebrating together, it was a night to remember.
